I searched for Thayer items for 30 years. This is the only one of these I have ever seen. I acquired it when I purchased what was left of the Thayer Studios. This was part of that acquisition and belonged to the man who purchased Thayer Studios from the Larsen’s in 1950. HIs name was Clayton Jacobson. I believe this to be one of the original runs of this item based on the newspaper covering of the gimmick. It is almost 100 years old. The ad is from the Thayer Catalog. A rare piece I have decided to let go. Quality made with dovetail construction. The slate is 12×16 and the overall size is 14×18. Appeared it the post 1925 catalog. I have found no recorded sales of this effect. A true Thayer rarity. With original canvas carry bag.
